Dear Teacher
or Administrator,
The contract between your
school district and the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky provides for
training of teachers in the challenger mission simulations. The Challenger
Center agrees to train one teacher for each mission which the school district
pays. Most school districts want their teachers to attend the Challenger
Workshops each year even after the initial training for the mission
simulations.
This teacher workshop
schedule that you are receiving from the Challenger Learning Center of
Kentucky is to inform you of the different types of training that we will be
offering during the summer and fall of 2002. All
teachers bringing students to the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky are
expected to complete either the Comet or Mars Simulation Mission training
before they bring their students to the center to fly their mission
simulation. You can also sign up for additional workshops but you must have
the Comet or Mars training. If you have received this workshop
schedule and are no longer the teacher responsible for the Challenger Mission
preparation, please pass this along to the teacher that will be in charge for
the 2002-2003 school year.
If you are a teacher
that brings students to the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky and have
already had the Comet and/or Mars Simulation Mission Training, then you are
welcome to sign up for any of the other workshops advertised. Each workshop
will have a short session to talk about the mission simulation and any changes
that might have taken place since last year. You are also welcome to share
this training schedule with your fellow teachers and they can sign up for the
workshops as well. Again, the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky will
train one teacher per mission paid from each school district. For any
additional teachers attending workshops we will charge their school district
at the rate of $50.00/teacher. Please complete the enclosed workshop
registration form and fax, mail, or email to the Challenger Learning Center of
Kentucky by July 1. Fax to 606-435-1102, mail to One Community College Drive,
Hazard, Ky. 41701 or email to
Tom.Cravens@kctcs.edu.
If you have any
questions, please contact the Challenger Center at 800-246-5721.
