Dear School Official,

The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky, now located in the new Clemons Science Center building on the Hazard Community College campus, is extremely excited to announce the opening of our Children’s Interactive Science Center with the “Flight Factory” exhibit.  Imagine your 4th and 5th grade students as they assemble and launch rockets, build and test paper airplanes and wing shapes in 3 different wind tunnels, build and fly hot air balloons, construct parachutes and drop them from the top of our 30 foot science center ceiling.  The “Flight Factory” exhibit is 2500 sq. ft. of interactivity designed and built to supply teachers and students inquiry based material to study the many aspects of flight.  We believe that you will see the Flight Factory as a great teaching device and motivational tool that will benefit the 4th and 5th grade students in your school district.

Much like the student “pre-mission” classroom preparation that teachers use before bringing a class to the Challenger’s simulated missions, teachers will prepare their students before their visit to the “Flight Factory”.  Classroom materials and curriculum, aligned with Kentucky’s mathematics and science standards, will be a key component of the package that your school district will receive when you sign up for the “Flight Factory” experience.  The remainder of that package includes a 1-day teacher professional development and the 2 ½ hour visit to the “Flight Factory”.  Your students will be excited, motivated, and will have lots of fun preparing for their visit and will not stop talking about their experience when they return.  The cost of this package of teacher professional development, classroom curriculum, and visit to the interactive science center to participate in “Flight Factory” will be $250.00 per group of up to 30 students.  Optional Flight Pax, which include all needed materials, are also available for $75.00.  A list of its contents is included.

We believe that The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky has built a reputation of offering quality interactive teaching and learning opportunities for students and teachers.  The Interactive Science Center allows us to expand those opportunities to 4th and 5th grade students with the “Flight Factory”.  Please give us a call at 800-246-7521 or email at Tom.Cravens@kctcs.edu if you have questions or to schedule your school.

Sincerely,
