Online
Programs
KCTCS
colleges offer online programs including the Associate in Arts,
Associate in Science, and Associate in Applied Science degrees,
as well as certificates. Students must designate a KCTCS college
as their Home College . The KCTCS Home College must have program
approval to award the credential. Online classes are delivered by
different KCTCS colleges, and the Home College accepts all systemwide
online courses delivered by other KCTCS colleges. The student's
Home College will provide student services including admissions,
advising, library services, billing, financial aid, etc. Enrolled
students will receive an automatic email providing userid and password
through the student KCTCS email account.
All
of the courses required for online programs can be taken fully online;
however, some courses may require exams that are proctored and approved
by the instructor. Instructors communicate with students through
the Angel or WebCT Course Management System (CMS) or through KCTCS
email.
KCTCS
online classes may be requested at www.kyvu.org or students may
register directly at any KCTCS college. Requests for classes through
KYVU are directed to the student's Home College , and the Home College
processes the request once all admission requirements have been
met.
Additional
information about KCTCS online courses and programs, including student
orientation and tutorial, may be viewed at www.kctcs.edu/distancelearning.
Program guides for KCTCS online programs are available at http://www.kctcs.edu/distancelearning/programchecklist.htm
and in the Academic Curricula section of this catalog (see page
numbers). To support student success, your Home College may require
an Internet course orientation prior to enrollment in an online
class. You are encouraged to visit your Home College Internet homepage
prior to requesting enrollment. If you have any questions about
the degree or the requirements, please contact your advisor or a
counselor at your Home College.

Several
KCTCS colleges participate in the Higher Education Telecommunications
Consortium. The Consortium selects and administers all Kentucky
Educational Television (KET) Telecourses. Students enroll at participating
colleges, and the majority of the class word is done by the student
at home. Enrolled students view courses on KET or interactive DVD
and use an assigned text. Student and instructor communicate by
telephone and/or email. The instructor may require some on-campus
meetings.
